Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company and STC sign MOU to deploy Fiber Optics
Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company, a Subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company "SEC", has signed a memo of understanding with The Saudi Telecom Company (STC), to cooperate in the deployment of fiber optic networks in Saudi Arabia to benefit from the capabilities of the two companies to deploy broadband services in the field of communications and information technology.
The MoU, signed by CEO of Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company Dr. Ahmed Sindi and Dr. Khaled Bin Hussein Al-Bayary, CEO of Saudi Telecom Group, in the presence of Eng. Mansour Al Qahtani, Executive Vice President of Distribution, Saudi Electricity Company.
Dr. Sindi said that the MoU is part of the strategic partnership with Saudi Telecom making benefit from the strong fiber optic network infrastructure of Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company which extends for more than 70,000 kilometers and covers most of the Kingdom with the aim of providing broadband services, television broadcasting and the possibility of providing packages of smart houses services and digital services to accelerate the digital transformation of the Kingdom and enhance its global reach in digital readiness.
This agreement comes also in line with the government efforts pursued through the transformation initiatives 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030 to deploy broadband services and raise the speed and quality of the Internet.
The MOU is in line with the global trend of cooperation between the electricity and telecommunications sectors to capitalize on the huge investments in electricity infrastructure including the strong infrastructure of the fiber optic network.
