National Housing and Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company sign MoU to provide broadband services in housing projects

The National Housing Company (NHC), wholly owned by the Ministry of Housing, and Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide infrastructure for broadband services in a number of Ministry projects.

The Memorandum aims to deploy broadband services and enhance partnership between public and private sectors to support the process of sustainable and balanced development and open up multiple areas of investment in the Kingdom, in line with the Kingdom vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.

The memorandum states that Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company will build the infrastructure of broadband services and then make it available to all telecommunications service providers to prepare and deliver offers representing a package of voice services, Internet, information, smart services and Internet Of Things that would be introduced as part of the company products.

The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Minister of Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Haqail. Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company was represented by its executive president Dr. Ahmed Bin Abbas Sindi while NHC was represented by its executive president Eng. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al-Bati.

Dr. Sindi said that the MoU is part of the strategic partnership with Saudi Telecom making benefit from the strong infrastructure of Dawiyat Integrated Telecommunications & Information Technology Company fiber optic network, which extends for more than 55,000 kilometers and covers most of the Kingdom, with the aim of providing broadband services, television broadcasting and the possibility of providing packages of smart houses services and digital services to accelerate the digital transformation of the Kingdom and enhance its global reach in digital readiness.

This agreement comes also in line with the government efforts pursued through the transformation initiatives 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030 to deploy broadband services and raise the speed and quality of the Internet to world-class levels.

From his side, Eng. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Bati, executive president of NHC, said that the activation of this memorandum will contribute to the rapid deployment of telecommunications services in the Kingdom, especially as the National Housing Company has huge partnerships that help to provide the best residential products to achieve the company's strategic, economic and operational goals. The implementation of this agreement would also play a role in the promotion of many applications and electronic activities in houses, including e-learning, e-commerce, e-health and teleworking to serve the Saudi citizen.

He pointed out that the NHC has ambitious plans and projects in overseeing the building of several types of housing units in the Kingdom, either directly or in partnership with developers from the private sector or with other parties as public benefit institutions and societies or others, on the lands of the Ministry of Housing or the private sector.
