Dawiyat, ITC in fiber optic broadband deal to connect 89k homes in 7 Saudi cities .

The Saudi Electricity Company’s fiber optics subsidiary Integrated Dawiyat signed a deal with telecommunications provider Integrated Telecom to provide broadband internet connectivity to household in several cities around the Kingdom. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed Sindi, the Chief Executive Officer of Dawiyat, and his counterpart at ITC, Engineer Ghassan Itani. Fahad Al-Sudairi, the CEO of SEC, attended the signing ceremony in Riyadh.

The agreement is part of Dawiyat’s contribution to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the National Transformation Program 2020, and the national broadband initiative as a major contributor to the deployment of broadband internet connectivity. As a equal-opportunity enabler, Dawiyat operates on an equal footing with all telecommunications providers in the Kingdom to ensure better, broader fiber optic coverage everywhere in the Kingdom. “We at Integrated Dawiyat enable telecommunications service providers to offer fiber optic broadband internet to households by readying the infrastructure they need to achieve that,” said Dr. Sindi. “Our network spans 75,000 kilometers across the Kingdom, and through this deal, broadband service will reach more than 89,000 households in Riyadh, Madina, Yanbu, Hail, Buraydah, Al Qatif, and Taif.” Sindi said that the company will deploy a fiber optic mega-network that will connect 744,500 homes by 2020.

Integrated Dawiyat is the only independent company that is licensed to wholesale broadband infrastructure by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, which enables it to help telecom providers get their services to end users.
